So here we are. You have the hosting company, and now it’s time to actually create your site! This can be the most fun part of the whole process. Think of it as decorating the apartment you’re renting and making it all yours--choosing the colors for your rooms and the types of pictures to hang on your walls! Likewise, there are many ways to develop an informative and creative site, ways to basically ”decorate” your site. You don’t need to spend a lot of money learning HTML or having someone create it for you. Rachel did not know HTML and had no idea where to start. Should she learn HTML or hire someone to design it for her? She really had zero budget and she realized that there were template-based site building software that would enable her to create a customized site in no time. The software would provide hundreds of designs and templates to choose from, and she could just click and add to build her site. She was definitely skeptical at first, thinking that the software would limit creativity and functionality. Nevertheless, she tried and was pleasantly surprised to find it easy-to-use and very intuitive.

Note: Rachel had a good experience with the template software, but people more versed in HTML may want to consider using programs like Dreamweaver® or Microsoft® Frontpage® to develop their sites. These programs offer additional flexibility and customization than the template software but do require basic knowledge of HTML and usually have a price tag of $100 to $200.
